Subsona

Subsona is a collaborative project between composers Stuart McCallum and Mark Slater that explores the power of music to suggest rather than define. Rooted in atmosphere, texture and mood, the music invites listeners to inhabit their own imagined narratives, offering space for reflection, interpretation and discovery.

Blending acoustic guitar, piano, orchestral strings and electronics, Subsona creates immersive sonic landscapes that move between intimacy and vastness. Dark, contemplative passages sit alongside expansive cinematic textures, with each piece unfolding as a richly detailed environment where melody, harmony and sound design become inseparable.

Rather than telling a story, Subsona opens a space for stories to emerge, creating music that is both emotionally resonant and vividly evocative, while remaining open to the imagination of each listener.
